Morgan Barfield received a Bachelor's degree from Florida State University in three years and his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Florida in just two and a half years, graduating law school at just 22 years old.
Morgan carries the same drive he had in school into his practice which helped him achieve certification by the Florida Bar as a Board Certified Specialist in Civil Trial Law, a distinction that only about 1% of all Florida lawyers have earned. Morgan has extensive first chair jury trial experience in a multitude of different cases and has tried cases all over the State of Florida. Because of this, a large part of his practice is devoted to trying cases for other law firms.
Morgan spent the first years of his career representing large insurance companies and corporations. Thereafter, he started his own practice in 2009 solely representing homeowners and injured parties. Then, in 2012 Morgan joined forces with Ted Corless in creating the Corless Barfield Trial Group.
Morgan has had some involvement in drafting amendments to Florida Statutes, testifying as an expert in fee disputes and with numerous appeals traveling all the way to the Florida Supreme Court. He has helped blaze new laws for homeowners and other lawyers in the State. Morgan also spends much of his time speaking around the State and teaching Continuing Education courses on insurance issues relating to sinkhole claims and large loss claims to multi-family complexes. He is recognized as one of the few go-to experts on sinkhole related insurance claims in the State of Florida.
While Morgan really focuses his practice on sinkhole, hurricane and other insurance disputes, he has a diverse background which has included litigating matters relating to personal injury, medical malpractice, products liability, wrongful death, workers compensation, slander and libel actions, construction defect claims and negligent property damage claims. He has successfully prosecuted and defended several newsworthy, high-profile cases.
Morgan’s passion when not working is traveling the world with his wife and two kids. He’s also an avid sports fan. His favorite sports to play are soccer and basketball, and he loves watching football. Morgan played five varsity sports in high school. He’s always in motion and proud to be a lifelong multitasker.
